School Uniform
All items of uniform and personal possessions should be named.
The wearing of school uniform is encouraged, but not compulsory.
As a general guide, in one week, most children will require two pairs of trousers/skirts/dresses, three to five shirts and two sweatshirts or cardigans. Many children wear fleece jackets in colder weather. Most of the younger children need a book bag.
Winter Uniform for Girls
Grey skirt, pinafore or grey school trousers
Burgundy sweatshirt or “v” necked jumper with school logo
Burgundy/Grey/Black tights or white socks
Black shoes (preferably with low heel – less than 1 ½ inches)
Winter Uniform for Boys
Grey trousers
Burgundy sweatshirt or “v” necked jumper with school logo
Grey/Black socks
Black shoes
Summer Uniform
Girls - as above with polo shirt with school logo or burgundy/white checked/striped dress
White or black sandals or shoes (preferably with low heel) worn with white ankle socks
Boys - as above with polo shirt with school logo Grey shorts (if preferred)
Dark shoes or sandals
Jewellery
In the interest of safety, jewellery – particularly earrings, is discouraged.
Necklaces, dangling or hoop earrings, rings should on no account be worn.
Only stud earrings may be worn (except for PE – please read section on PE below).
Art
An apron or painting shirt is required by all children for artwork.
PE Kit
All PE kit should be kept in a named drawstring bag which can be hung from a peg.
Outdoor PE - White T-shirt (preferably Aertex)/Tracksuit bottoms/Leggings/Sports Trainers/warm top
Indoor PE - White T-shirt (preferably Aertex)/Shorts/Leggings/Tracksuit bottoms/Plimsolls or Sports Trainers
For PE lessons all pupils and teachers will be expected to have their hair tied back and all jewellery removed. (If ears have been recently pierced and studs cannot be removed, parents should contact the Head Teacher.)
Items of school uniform can be purchased from the Uniform Representative of the Friends of East Cowton School. There are some items of second hand uniform available at lower cost. Please contact the School Office for details. No responsibility will be accepted for loss or damage to any items.
